Dynamic Object Aging System is a runtime surface aging framework for Unity. It lets scene objects visually transition between clean, old, rusty, dirty, cracked, wet, and burned states using material-driven effects.
The system is built for the Built-in Render Pipeline and uses a custom Standard-style overlay shader. Effects are applied directly on the object surface through shader properties and MaterialPropertyBlock values, so objects can share materials while still having independent aging states.
Main features:
Runtime aging from new to old using a normalized age value Rust, dirt, cracks, wetness, and burn damage states Rain controller with Particle System support Automatic wetness when rain is enabled Edit mode preview through inspector sliders Public C# API for gameplay integration Shared aging profiles for reusable settings Demo scene, prefabs, materials, masks, and documentation included The system is suitable for industrial scenes, survival games, abandoned environments, weather systems, damage systems, repair mechanics, props, machinery, pipes, barrels, power boxes, and any object that needs visible wear over time.
Developers can control aging manually, drive it from gameplay events, or let objects age automatically during runtime. Materials can be customized with different colors, masks, smoothness, metallic values, and effect contrast to match different art styles.
